Ages 1 ½ to 3 years

Can you make a sound like an elephant? Or hop up and down like a bunny? Kindermusik® Our Time encourages your child to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control and communication skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming and object identification help foster language skills. Creative movement to various musical "moods" develops a sense of balance, timing and spatial awareness. Listening and turn-taking activities encourage blossoming social skills.

KINDERMUSIK OUR TIME includes four different semesters (15 weeks each). These non-sequential programs are called Milk & Cookies, Fiddle Dee Dee, Wiggles & Giggles and Away We Go! Parents register for each semester of classes. There will be a limit of 8 children per class. The program features singing, expressive movement, dancing, listening, creativity, storytime, playing simple percussion instruments, parent education and parent/child interaction. The program includes materials for the child and family - a colourful home activity book, 2 home CD's, rhythm instrument, 2 companion literature books, and a carry case.

KINDERMUSIK OUR TIME invites you to relax and enjoy music with your child. If your child cannot focus on the activities and does not sit by your side at all times - don't worry. As long as your child is in the room, he/she is participating in Kindermusik. Gently lead your child into the activities. The Kindermusik classroom is a sound environment. It is a place of discovery and a place where it is okay to explore and experiment. After a few weeks you and your child will feel more comfortable in the class.

Most children adore music. They love to dance, to sing and to play musical instruments. However, a group music experience may be new to your child. He/she may be shy in the group - that's okay. You may see a completely different child at home as you share your Kindermusik activities there. Most families do. As a parent, it is important for you to assure that the environment in which your child is growing includes music, body awareness and movement, freedom of self-expression, exploration of the imagination, and the emergence of self-esteem. Kindermusik classes will assist you in creating an effective learning and growing environment in which your child's musical instincts are encouraged and rudimentary musical skills are developed.

The Our Time program for the winter of 2008 is Away We Go! Hop on the train, get in the car, board the plane, and Away We Go! This delightful, 15-lesson unit focuses on transportation, a favorite topic for toddlers who are on the go, go, go! Sing and play along with favorite songs, such as "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad" and "Wheels on the Bus". Explore fast and slow, smooth and bumpy, and high and low. Read stories about ways to get around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has a horse, speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go. Move, play, and sing together in developmentally appropriate activities created just for 1 1/2 to 3-year-olds. Families will receive 2 CDs, a Home Activity Book, 2 storybooks (Shiny Dinah and Giddy-Up!), 2 harmonicas, and a train carrying box.
