I have been teaching private music lessons in my home in Wolfville
since 1990. Piano is my main instrument. I also teach voice, recorder,
flute, violin, and Kindermusik® classes
and have worked as an accompanist and associate director for musical
theatre productions by youth in Wolfville.
I
like to teach a variety of musical styles. I believe that students should
play music because they love it, so they only play pieces they love.
I am willing to assist any student in following a particular musical
interest. We strive for excellence, while making the music as much fun
as possible.
I like to search for the drama and the emotion within any piece of
music. This is especially fun with singers! I play piano for my voice
students.
I include theory and ear training in all lessons, and also give theory
and harmony courses.
I hold three recitals per year in my home to give my students experience
playing for each other. My students also participate in recitals organized
by the Annapolis Valley chapter of the Nova Scotia Registered Music
Teachers.
Many of my students participate in the annual Kings County Music Festival.
I help them prepare for the festival and accompany them on piano if
necessary. I also work as a volunteer for the Music Festival.
For those students who wish it, I prepare them for Royal Conservatory,
Conservatory Canada or Acadia University music examinations.
